Seb Coe & Daniel Radcliffe

Harry Potter star and all-round top bloke Daniel Radcliffe is set to play Lord Sebastian Coe in the new new movie Gold. The film comes from the pen of Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire) and Will Davies (How To Train Your Dragon) and will be directed by James Watkins who recently directed Radcliffe in The Woman In Black.

According to the site:

The script tells the story of Coe’s world-famous rivalry with fellow athlete Steve Ovett in the years leading up to the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games.

Seb Coe has been in the spotlight an awful lot over the past five or six years in the run up to the London 2012 Olympics as he took on the lead role as Chairman of the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games and brought in the likes of Danny Boyle to direct the opening ceremony. Coe set eight outdoor and three indoor world records in middle-distance track events. In 1979 he set three world records in the space of 41 days with the 800 metres record set in 1981 remaining unbroken until 1997.

Very much looking forward to this one but what do we think of Radcliffe playing the lead role? Comments below please.
