Having meted out justice for his country in the last three James Bond outings, Daniel Craig is now set to do the same in an entirely different setting in the courtroom drama, The Whole Truth.
Word surfaced earlier this month via the Daily Mail that Craig was in negotiations to lead the project, with Variety announcing that he’s now attached to star in the upcoming film.
Interestingly, the original report specifically describes the film as a courtroom drama, whilst the more recent describes it as a thriller. Of course, a film like Runaway Jury shows that the thriller element can be introduced very successfully into the courtroom drama, and given Craig’s undeniable talents in the thriller genre, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if we get a little of both.
Details of the plot are currently being kept under wraps, but we do know that Craig is attached to star as a lawyer.
Courtney Hunt (Frozen River) will be directing from a script by Nicholas Kazan (Matilda, Enough), with Richard Suckle (American Hustle, The International) producing.
FilmNation will be selling the international rights at the European Film Market in Berlin next month.
Craig was last seen on the big screen in the Oscar-winning, billion-dollar-grossing Skyfall, and has the as-yet-untitled Bond 24 next on his slate, due to hit cinemas at the tail-end of 2015. No word yet on when we can expect production to begin on The Whole Truth, but with the film headed to the EFM next month, here’s to hoping that more news will be surfacing soon.
