Cloudy-with-a-Chance-of-Meatballs-2-PosterFollowing up from the blockbuster success of 2009 original, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 is quickly shaping up to be one of the best animated movies of the year.

The first trailer and poster were released back in February, giving us a brilliant first look at the film. And that’s been followed this week by the first featurette, giving us another great taste of what to expect towards the end of this year.

And adding to all of that, Sony have debuted a new motion poster, taking the first poster we saw and making the food-animals move.

When inventor Flint Lockwood discovers that his most infamous machine – the FLDSMDFR – is still operating and is now creating giant mutant food beasts that threaten to destroy civilization, he knows he’s the only one who can stop it. With the fate of humanity in his hands, Flint and his friends must embark on a dangerously delicious mission battling hungry tacodiles, shrimpanzees, apple pie-thons, double bacon cheespiders and other food creatures to save the world… again!

Anna Faris and Bill Hader return as the leads for the voice cast. And they’re joined by another great ensemble, led by Andy Samberg, James Caan, Neil Patrick Harris, Terry Crews, Kristen Schaal, Will Forte, and Benjamin Bratt.

Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn are making their feature directorial debuts here, directing from a script co-written by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley (Horrible Bosses).

The first film’s directors, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, have since gone on to direct 21 Jump Street and the upcoming LEGO movie. And with the latter keeping them pretty busy, they opted to remain on as executive producers for Cloudy 2, passing the reigns to new co-directors Cameron and Pearn, who make their debut with the franchise just as Lord and Miller did four years ago.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 will be released in 3D on September 27th in the US, with its UK release date set for 25th October. For now, here’s the new motion poster to get you in the mood. I’m really looking forward to seeing all these new creatures in action.
