Car vs. Pool & Taser vs. Neighbour In New Trailer And Poster For Party Movie Project X

StumbleUponReddit

Towards the end of last year, we saw the first trailer and poster for Project X, a party movie that looks a little different to pretty much every teen comedy that’s surfaced over the last few years.

We’ve now got a great new trailer and poster to share with you, courtesy of iTunes Movie Trailers via ComingSoon.net. Whilst the first trailer pretty much focused on the out-of-control partying, this new trailer brings in more of the comedy to go with the insanity of a house party that’s just literally exploded.

““Project X” follows three seemingly anonymous high school seniors as they attempt to finally make a name for themselves. Their idea is innocent enough: let’s throw a party that no one will forget… but nothing could prepare them for this party. Word spreads quickly as dreams are ruined, records are blemished and legends are born. “Project X” is a warning to parents and police everywhere. This film has been rated R for crude and sexual content throughout, nudity, drugs, drinking, pervasive language, reckless behavior and mayhem-all involving teens.”

The film marks the directorial debut from Nima Nourizadeh, and stars a cast made up mostly of relative unknowns, which I think is probably going to be a strength for this movie. Ordinarily, I’d think that a film whose main plot is a house party* isn’t worth seeing, but a) the trailers so far have been promising, and b) Michael Bacall co-wrote the script, and his credits include Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and the upcoming 21 Jump Street, which also looks like a lot of fun, so I’m definitely willing to give it a chance. I’m sold on Bacall as co-writer of Scott Pilgrim alone.

Project X is set to hit UK cinemas on 2nd March, so we’ve got about a month and a half until we can see how this one turns out. I’m guessing it should do pretty good business. And the fact that The Hangover’s director, Todd Phillips, is on board as a producer shouldn’t hurt at all. Here’s the great new trailer and poster for your viewing pleasure. As usual with the latter, click to enlarge. (Is it just me, or does the scene with the dog on the trampoline look pretty great?)

*American Pie doesn’t count, because I’m a big fan of those films, and am really looking forward to American Reunion. Neither does Superbad, because it has Michael Cera, Emma Stone, and Jonah Hill, and plenty of great comedy. But on the whole, a house party isn’t generally feature film-worthy.
