We’re counting down the days before Steve Rogers’ return, with Captain America: The Winter Soldier marking the third instalment in Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The studio hasn’t set a foot wrong yet with Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World, in my books at least, and I can’t wait to see what they bring to the table next. Especially when you factor in the recent news that Joss Whedon has directed one of the post-credit scenes ahead of next year’s Avengers: Age of Ultron.
With just days – or a couple of weeks, depending on which side of the Atlantic you’re on – separating us from The Winter Soldier’s arrival, IMAX have released a new poster for the blockbuster sequel.
After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier.
Chris Evans is back in the driving seat once more, reuniting with Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan alongside Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Emily VanCamp, and Hayley Atwell, with Robert Redford and of course Samuel L. Jackson.
Brothers Joe and Anthony Russo are co-directing from a script written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely (Captain America: The First Avenger, Thor: The Dark World).
Captain America: The Winter Soldier will be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on 26th March, following soon after in the US on April 4th.
