The drama seems him reuniting with Felicity Jones once more, and I couldn’t be more excited about this film.
Following its debut out in Park City, QED International picked up Breathe In to handle its non-American distribution rights, bringing it to the Berlinale this month for potential distributors. And now the film’s first poster has debuted online, giving us a great new look at Jones and her co-star, Guy Pearce.
“As summer turns to fall, music teacher Keith Reynolds privately reminisces about his days as a starving artist in the city. While his wife, Megan, and daughter, Lauren, look forward to Lauren’s final year of high school, Keith clings to those evenings he’s asked to sub as a cellist with a prestigious Manhattan symphony. When Megan decides the family should host foreign exchange student Sophie, the British high school senior soon rekindles an impetuous aspect of Keith’s personality.”
Jones and Pearce star alongside a strong supporting cast, headed up by Amy Ryan (Gone Baby Gone), Mackenzie Davis (Smashed), Kyle MacLachlan (Desperate Housewives), Alexandra Wentworth (Head Case), and Ben Shenkman (Pi).
Doremus is also reuniting here with Ben York Jones, with whom he co-wrote the Like Crazy screenplay. Doremus is once more directing from a script they co-wrote, and that’s definitely something to look forward to.
The early reviews have been very promising, and if this wasn’t already on your must-watch list for the year, it ought to be now.
Breathe In remains without distribution in the UK and US, but we’re hopeful (and quietly optimistic) that that won’t be the case for long. Like Crazy was a big hit back in late 2011 / early 2012, and I can’t wait to see Doremus’ follow-up. My fingers are very tightly crossed for a UK debut at Sundance London this April.
