As if Lively’s involvement wasn’t enough, Nicolas Winding Refn came on board to direct a short film, which was presented tonight at the Venice Film Festival. The perfume has been available for purchase since July, and if it smells as beautiful as this short film looks, it’s going to do brilliantly.
“Inspired by timeless Hollywood glamour and fronted by a modern icon, Blake Lively, the new Gucci Premiere fragrance is an invitation to embrace one’s own red carpet moment. The Director’s Cut was shot by director Nicolas Winding Refn in the historic Sheats Goldstein Residence, one of Beverly Hills’s most famed and opulent locations with an unrivalled view across the city.
Music: M83 – Midnight City (Eric Prydz Private Remix).”
The adverts have been airing on the TV for a few weeks now, and now we’ve finally got the short film in full, and it’s as beautiful as we always imagined it would be.
Lively, who’s been developing her film credits nicely in recent years, most notably in Ben Affleck’s The Town, was last seen on the big screen in Oliver Stone’s Savages, and will be returning to Gossip Girl when the new season begins this film.
Winding Refn is coming off the back of the acclaimed Drive, which won him the Best Director award at Cannes last year. He’s most recently finished filming Only God Forgives, which reunites him Ryan Gosling, which was thought to be potentially debuting at Venice this month, too. As of yet, there’s no word on when we can expect that, but with the film reuniting arguably the best combination of last year, the anticipation is naturally on high. Until then, we can fall in love with his brilliant work with the shorter-length form.
Truly, he knows how to shoot beauty like few can.
