BAFTA maskWe’re days away from the biggest night in the British Film Calendar as this Sunday the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden plays host to the annual BAFTA awards ceremony.

It has been a fine year for British film as is evidenced by the award nominees, and whatever happens on Sunday night we’re richer for having a global spotlight thrown our way. For the past few years HeyUGuys have been in the privileged position of unveiling the official BAFTA artwork for the Best Picture nominees and today we continue that tradition.

Five films contest the Best Picture category – 12 Years a Slave, American Hustle, Captain Phillips, Gravity and Philomena and the sheer variety of subject matter tells of a great year for filmmaking.

Here is the official BAFTA Best Picture artwork, designed by Human After All and illustrated by La Boca – very limited edition prints of each cover are available from La Boca’s online store.

The EE British Academy Awards are on BBC One on February 16th at 9pm, they are preceded by a BBC3 Red Carpet Show from 830pm on BBC 3.

To close off we wanted to bring the final Countdown to BAFTA video. For the past four weeks we’ve hosted the videos produced by the Academy looking behind the scenes of the ceremony itself, giving you a look at the immense logistical operation the event brings with it.

Join us on Sunday night as we’ll be at the Royal Opera House liveblogging the results as they come in. It’ll be a great night – see you there!
