Co-starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña in the leads, End of Watch sees David Ayer (Street Kings, writer of Training Day) return behind the camera for the third time, directing from his own script, and is promising to be one of the best crime-dramas of the year.

We got an awesome first look at the film last year when the first images surfaced, and now the film’s first trailer and promo poster have debuted through Yahoo Movies, and needless to say, it’s looking epic.

“A powerful story of family, friendship, love, honor and courage, End Of Watch stars Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña as young Los Angeles police officers Taylor and Zavala as they patrol the city’s meanest streets of south central Los Angeles.

Giving the story a gripping, first-person immediacy, the action unfolds entirely through footage from the handheld HD cameras of the police officers, gang members, surveillance cameras, and citizens caught in the line of fire to create a riveting portrait of the city’s darkest, most violent corners, the cops who risk their lives there every day, and the price they and their families are forced to pay.”

Anna Kendrick, America Ferrera, Cody Horn, Natalie Martinez, and Frank Grillo are all supporting, making this even more of a project to look forward to.

End of Watch will be released in the US on 28th September, and though no UK release date has yet been set, here’s to hoping that we’ll be getting it around the same time. With Killing Them Softly, Looper, Savages, Taken 2, Skyfall (a.k.a. Bond 23), and Ben Affleck’s Argo all due out in September and October this year, it would certainly be in great company if End of Watch were to be added to that list. For now, here’s the great first trailer, followed by the promo poster (which you can click to enlarge). Enjoy.
