Terminator

With production on Alan Taylor’s Terminator: Genesis set to begin next month, Arnold Schwarzenegger  – who will be returning to the franchise which helped make him a household name – has opened up about both where they’ll be shooting and his thoughts on the direction of the reboot/sequel while speaking at the Arnold Sports Festival? in Columbus (via The Arnold Fans).

“We start filming in the middle or in the end of April and it will be a four or four-and-a-half month long shoot. We will be filming it in New Orleans with some of it in San Francisco and maybe a little of it in LA but most of it will be done in New Orleans. I’m really looking forward to that because as you know, the last time when they did the Terminator, it was when I was Governor and so I couldn’t be in that movie but now I’m back again and they are very excited about having me in the film… The script is fantastic so I’m really looking forward to this film.”

According to Moviehole, Genesis will be taking a similar route to J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek reboot by creating a new timeline through the use of time travel. As well as the future, the film will apparently revisit key moments from both 1984 (The Terminator) and 1991 (Terminator 2: Judgement Day), along with various other periods in the life of the Connor family.

That will involve recasting several memorable roles, including the punk played by Bill Paxton and the police detective played by Lance Henrikson in the original and John’s foster parents from the sequel. The reason that these are being revisited – as well as scenes from the past which haven’t been seen on film before – are unknown, but it’s likely that they’ll be using CGI to make Arnie look like his younger self.

Terminator: Genesis sounds interesting to say the least, but we’ll have to wait until July 1st, 2015 to see how all this plays out! The movie also stars Jason Clarke, Emilia Clarke, and Jai Courtney.
