Harrison Ford in Morning GloryAnchorman: The Legend Continues is definitely one of my most anticipated films of the year, bringing us a long-awaited return to the world of Ron Burgundy.

Adam McKay’s sequel officially cast its first new addition last month, with Kristen Wiig coming on board to star as Steve Carell’s love interest.

And now THR report that Harrison Ford has signed on for Anchorman: The Legend Continues, too.

Ford will be starring as a legendary newscaster figure in the upcoming sequel, and I can’t wait to see what he brings to the sequel. Ford is known more for his action blockbuster roles than his comedic ones, and it will be good to see him starring alongside the likes of the brilliant comedy talents here.

Will Ferrell is of course reprising his leading role, with Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, Christina Applegate, and David Koechner returning alongside him.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but we do know McKay is directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with Ferrell. And the two will be producing alongside Judd Apatow and Kevin Messick.

Ford will next be seen this spring in the Jackie Robinson biopic, 42, for Warner Bros., and is rumoured to be reprising his iconic role as Han Solo in the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII. Before that gets underway, though, we can look forward to seeing him star alongside the Channel 4 news team.

Anchorman: The Legend Continues will be hitting US theatres on 20th December. Still no word on a UK release date, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed for Paramount to release it on our shores on the same day. In the meantime, if you haven’t seen it already, here is that first brilliant teaser trailer that we saw last May.
