Easily one of our most anticipated films of the year, Seth MacFarlane’s A Million Ways to Die in the West kicked things off brilliantly with its red-band first trailer at the end of last week.

Needless to say, the content wasn’t exactly suitable for a show like the Super Bowl, so Universal launched a green-band trailer over the weekend, bringing back MacFarlane’s creation, Ted, for the Big Game Spot.

After cowardly Albert backs out of a gunfight because he’s never fired his gun, his fickle girlfriend leaves him for another man — the proprietor of the town’s foremost moustache emporium. When he accidentally saves the life of a mysterious and beautiful woman, she helps him find his courage and learn to stand up for himself. But when her husband, a notorious outlaw, arrives seeking revenge the sheep farmer must triumph over all of the hilariously awful dangers of the old west in order to save her.

MacFarlane heads up the great ensemble cast in live-action form this time around, joined by Charlize Theron, Liam Neeson, Amanda Seyfried, Neil Patrick Harris, Giovanni Ribisi, and Sarah Silverman.

Making his sophomore feature at the helm, MacFarlane directs from a script he co-wrote with frequent collaborators Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild (Ted, Family Guy).

A Million Ways to Die in the West will be released in the US on May 30th, arriving in the UK a week later on 6th June. In the meantime, here’s the tamer version of the first trailer, with some new jokes added for good measure, along with Ted’s return in the Super Bowl TV spot.
