Amanda-SeyfriedFollowing Seth MacFarlane’s brilliant feature directorial debut with last summer’s Ted, the genius writer-director is getting his follow-up feature lined up nicely. We recently heard that Charlize Theron is in talks to join A Million Ways to Die in the West.

Now THR are reporting that Amanda Seyfried is in negotiations to star alongside MacFarlane and Theron in the Western comedy with modern sensibilities, and it sounds like Theron’s casting has become official.

“A Million Ways to Die in the West follows a sheepish farmer who chickens out of a gunfight and sees his girlfriend leave him. When he meets a notorious outlaw’s wife (Theron) who offers to teach him how to shoot, the farmer sees a chance to win back his love.”

The role for which Seyfried is currently in talks is for that of the deserting girlfriend.

MacFarlane will be directing from his own script, and will also be producing alongside Scott Stuber (Ted, Role Models).

Seyfried has of course most recently been seen in Tom Hooper’s celebrated Les Misérables, which took home four awards at the BAFTAs over the weekend, and is heading in strong to the Oscars at the end of the month.

The actress has been very much making a name for herself in recent years, following a memorable feature debut in Mean Girls back in 2004. She’s since starred in the brilliant Alpha Dog, Mamma Mia!, and more recently Andrew Niccol’s sci-fi thriller, In Time. And with Rob Epstein’s and Jeffrey Friedman’s Lovelac and Chris Wedge’s animated movie, Epic, on her slate this year, things continue to look good for her.

A Million Ways to Die in the West is looking to start production in May. MacFarlane’s feature debut was absolutely brilliant, and so naturally we have high expectations that his follow-up here will be nothing short of genius. More as we get it.
