This year, we’ll be treated to not one but two stop-motion animated films in the form of LAIKA’s ParaNorman and Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie.

We caught a great new trailer for the latter when it went to Comic-Con earlier this month, and now we’ve got a great new set of posters, as well as a new batch of character portraits and descriptions to match.

“A heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new “leash on life” can be monstrous.

A stop-motion animated film, “Frankenweenie” will be filmed in black and white and rendered in 3D, which will elevate the classic style to a whole new experience.

In Tim Burton’s “Frankenweenie” young Victor conducts a science experiment to bring his beloved dog Sparky back to life, only to face unintended, sometimes monstrous, consequences.”

Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short, Martin Landau, Conchata Ferrell, and James Hiroyuki Liao are all lending their voices to the film, with Burton directing from a script by John August (Corpse Bride), so we should be in for a real treat.

Frankenweenie will be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on 5th October in the US, and will come to the UK a little later on 17th October. As usual with these new posters and portraits, you can click to enlarge.
