The upcoming remake, Evil Dead, debuted the first footage at NYCC this month to a brilliant reception, instantly making it a horror to look forward to in the spring. When Comic-Con audiences are pleased, it’s usually a good sign.

The first sneak peek of that footage landed online last night, and now the first teaser trailer itself has debuted in full.

“In the much anticipated remake of the 1981 cult-hit horror film, five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.”

Jane Levy takes the lead in the rather promising remake, starring alongside Shiloh Fernandez, Jessica Lucas, Lou Taylor Pucci, and Elizabeth Blackmore, with original director Sam Raimi and lead Bruce Campbell both serving as producers.

Fede Alvarez makes his feature directorial debut, directing from a script he co-wrote with past collaborator Rodo Sayagues Mendez, with Diablo Cody hired for a revision last year.

Evil Dead will be terrorising audiences in the UK and US on 12th April, 2013, and it looks like it could well be one of the best horror films of the year. Now take a look at the teaser trailer and let us know if you agree in the comments below.
