Paul Thomas Anderson’s The Master has been one of the most talked-about films in recent months, breaking records in its opening weekend in the US, and earning brilliant reviews from its festival circuit – you can read our review here – with plenty of buzz for the coming Oscar season.

Released in the US late last month, the film will be arriving in the UK next Friday, and now we’ve had the new UK quad poster sent our way, showing off a handful of those great reviews.

“Written and directed by Academy Award nominee Paul Thomas Anderson (the acclaimed director of, There Will Be Blood, Magnolia and Boogie Nights), this story stars Academy Award winner Philip Seymour Hoffman (Capote) and Academy Award-nominee Joaquin Phoenix (Walk the Line). Set in America in the years following World War II, a charismatic intellectual (Hoffman) launches a faith-based organization and taps a young drifter (Phoenix) as his right-hand man. But as the faith begins to gain a fervent following, the one time vagabond finds himself questioning the belief system he has embraced, and his mentor. A truly one-of-a-kind drama, which promises magnetic virtuoso performances, the film marks the fifth collaboration between Anderson and Hoffman, following Hard Eight, Boogie Nights, Magnolia, and Punch Drunk Love.”

Philip Seymour Hoffman, Joaquin Phoenix, and Amy Adams lead a fine cast, with Laura Dern, Jesse Plemons, and David Warshovsky starring alongside them.

Anderson is once more directing from his own script, with Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood (There Will Be Blood, Magnolia) collaborating with the writer-director again to compose the score.

The Master is currently still playing in a number of US theatres, and will be released in the UK next Friday, 2nd November. For now, here’s the new UK quad poster, which you can click to enlarge.
