Topping the UK box office in its opening weekend earlier this month, Dredd 3D is opening in US theatres today, and everything we’ve seen from the film so far suggests it’s going to be excellent – you can read our review here. Following a great new TV spot for the film at the start of the week, we’ve got an awesome new poster designed by the ever-great Mondo to share, along with a great new featurette.

Karl Urban takes the lead as the eponymous Judge Dredd, starring alongside the brilliant Olivia Thirlby as Judge Anderson, and Lena Headey as the antagonist, Ma-Ma.

“DREDD takes us to the wild streets of Mega City One, the lone oasis of quasi-civilization on Cursed Earth. Judge Dredd (Karl Urban) is the most feared of elite Street Judges, with the power to enforce the law, sentence offenders and execute them on the spot – if necessary. The endlessly inventive mind of writer Alex Garland and the frenetic vision of director Peter Travis bring DREDD to life as a futuristic neo-noir action film that returns the celebrated character to the dark, visceral incarnation from John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra’s revered comic strip.”

Pete Travis (Vantage Point) is behind the camera, directing from a script by Alex Garland (28 Days Later), with Domhnall Gleeson, Wood Harris, and Jason Cope completing the cast.

Dredd 3D is already in UK theatres, and opens in the US today, 21st September. There’s already been talk of a potential sequel if the box office numbers are strong enough, so if you want to see more from Urban and co., make sure you catch it on the big screen this weekend. For now, here’s the brilliant new poster, followed by the featurette.
