Originally set for release earlier this year, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters was pushed back to early 2013, and having gone some time since getting our first look at the leading duo of Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton just under a year ago, the first trailer has now made its way online.

Albeit, it’s subtitled, but it’s a brilliant first look at the film, and we’ll no doubt be getting the official US version of the trailer soon.

“15 years after their traumatic gingerbread-house incident, siblings Hansel and Gretel have become a formidable team of bounty hunters who track and kill witches all over the world.”

Norwegian director Tommy Wirkola is making his English language debut at the helm, co-writing the script with Dante Harper (the upcoming All You Need Is Kill), with Famke Janssen, Peter Stormare, Thomas Mann, and Zoe Bell completing the cast.

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters has been given the go-ahead to be released with an R-rating in the States, which is excellent news in my books. Paramount will be putting it into theatres in the US on 11th January, 2013, followed by a 15th March, 2013 release here in the UK. Renner and Arterton have both been deservedly rising in recent years, and it should be awesome to see the duo take the lead in an action blockbuster like this.

[UPDATE] Apple have now released the official US trailer, so I’ve switched them out below, and added in the first teaser poster.

Since graduating, I spend as much time as possible watching films/TV shows, reading books, and listening to music. So getting to write about what I love is nothing short of awesome. Biggest film-related hope for 2014/ever: Guy Ritchie announcing the RocknRolla sequel is finally moving forward.
