Jason Bateman may be currently filming the long-awaited and highly-anticipated new season of Arrested Development (the brilliant first set photos from which we saw earlier this week), but we can’t forget that he’s got a number of brilliant films lined up alongside his return to the small screen, and one of them, Disconnect, has just been added to this year’s TIFF line-up.

Starring alongside Bateman will be an impressive cast, headed up by Alexander Skarsgård, Paula Patton, Hope Davis, Andrea Riseborough, Frank Grillo, Michael Nyqvist, and younger stars Haley Ramm and Max Thieriot, and following this afternoon’s TIFF announcement, we’ve got our first look at two images from the film.

“With the aid of a first-rate cast — including Jason Bateman, Hope Davis, Paula Patton (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol) and Alexander Skarsgård (Melancholia) — director Henry Alex Rubin (Murderball) explores the impact of the internet on our daily lives through a series of gripping, cunningly interwoven parallel narratives.”

Oscar-nominated documentary director Henry Alex Rubin (Murderball) makes his feature directorial debut, directing from a script by Andrew Stern (Return to Me).

Disconnect will be making its debut at TIFF next month, and will head into theatres in the US on 12th April, 2013. No word on a UK release yet, but with such a strong line-up, and an acclaimed director at the helm, let’s hope it will find distribution at the festival next month. For now, here are the first two images, and as usual, you can click to enlarge.
