‘Brothers. Gangsters. Heroes.’

Tom Hardy is hitting cinemas in The Dark Knight Rises this Friday, but it won’t be long before he’s back on the big screen, with Lawless following shortly after.

Starring alongside him in the lead will be Shia LaBeouf in his first major post-Transformers role, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what he brings to the table here. I’m predicting brilliance.

A great new poster surfaced earlier this week, which we were sadly asked to take down, but now the first UK poster for the film has surfaced in its place.

“LAWLESS is the true story of the infamous Bondurant Brothers: bootlegging siblings who made a run for the American Dream in Prohibition-era Virginia. In this epic gangster tale, inspired by true-life tales of author Matt Bondurant’s family in his novel “The Wettest County in the World”, the loyalty of three brothers is put to the test against the backdrop of the nation’s most notorious crime wave.”

Gary Oldman, Guy Pearce, Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, and Jason Clarke round out the supporting cast nicely, with Clarke playing the third of the three Bondurant brothers alongside Hardy and LaBeouf.

John Hillcoat (The road) is behind the camera, directing from a script by Nick Cave, who adapts the original novel by Matt Bondurant, The Wettest County in the World, which was originally to be the film’s name.

Lawless will be released by The Weinstein Company in the US on 29th August, followed by slightly later in the UK on 7th September. With Anna Karenina and Dredd both due out on the same day in the UK as well, it’s going to be a very busy weekend at the box office. I can’t wait. My advice: One a night for all three nights.
