Starring Tom Hardy and Shia LaBeouf in the leads, John Hillcoat’s Lawless is one of the most promising and anticipated crime/dramas of the year.

We caught an awesome new trailer for the film last week, almost reminiscent of Tarantino in its style, and now Shia LeBeouf has put out a brilliant new poster through his Twitter ahead of its release in the US next month.

“LAWLESS is the true story of the infamous Bondurant Brothers: bootlegging siblings who made a run for the American Dream in Prohibition-era Virginia. In this epic gangster tale, inspired by true-life tales of author Matt Bondurant’s family in his novel “The Wettest County in the World”, the loyalty of three brothers is put to the test against the backdrop of the nation’s most notorious crime wave.”

Starring alongside Hardy and LaBeouf is a fantastic cast, headed up by Guy Pearce, Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke, Jessica Chastain, Mia Wasikowska, Dane DeHaan, and Noah Taylor.

John Hillcoat (The Road) is directing from a script by Nick Cave, who adapts the original novel by Matt Bondurant, The Wettest County in the World, which was originally to be the film’s title.

Lawless will be released by The Weinstein Company in the US on 29th August, followed by a slightly later release in the UK on 7th September. All signs point to it being immense, and this poster continues the trend. As usual, you can click to enlarge.

I love that tagline – ‘When the law was corrupt, outlaws became heroes.’

We’ve been asked to remove the poster. And so it has been done.
