The Dark Knight Rises will be released in six weeks and four days. The legend ends. The countdown has begun. And it’s going to be immense.

At last night’s MTV Movie Awards, the film had immense new footage debut that has made its way online, via Rope of Silicon, along with a great new TV spot adding to all the brilliant things we’ve seen already.

Christopher Nolan is back behind the camera, directing from a script co-written by himself and brother Jonathan, with a story by the director/co-writer and David S. Goyer.

Returning with him, of course, will be Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, and Morgan Freeman, with a fantastic new roster joining the cast, headed up by Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Marion Cotillard.

In the States, AMC Theatres (via Collider) are listing the film’s running time at an incredible 2 hours, 45 minutes – this was never going to be a ninety-minuter, but that’s even longer than I imagined, which is brilliant news in my books.

The Dark Knight Rises will be released in regular and IMAX theatres on 20th July, which you know doubt knew already – commit that date to memory if it isn’t already. You can catch up on all our coverage for the film here, and for now, enjoy this awesome new footage and another brilliant new TV spot.

[Update: The MTV footage has been removed at the request of the studio, but you can still enjoy the awesome TV spot below, as well as news of the epic 2hr45 run-time length.]
