Starring Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer, and Matthew McConaughey (once more mixing up his career as he’s recently been doing), Steven Soderbergh’s Magic Mike is one of the summer’s non-blockbuster films I’m most looking forward to.

We got the first trailer and teaser poster for the film last month, and now the first international poster has made its way online.

“Set in the world of male strippers, “Magic Mike” is directed by Steven Soderbergh and stars Channing Tatum (“Dear John,” “Step Up”) in a story inspired by his real life. The film follows Mike (Tatum) as he takes a young dancer called The Kid (Pettyfer) under his wing and schools him in the fine arts of partying, picking up women, and making easy money.”

Based on Tatum’s own experiences as a male stripper when he was younger, the film currently stands as Soderbergh’s third-final film before his upcoming retirement (to be followed by The Bitter Pill and then Behind the Candelabra, his Liberace biopic), and marks the writer-director’s second time collaborating with Tatum after working with him on this year’s Haywire.

Alongside Tatum, Pettyfer, and McConaughey, the film also stars Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Olivia Munn, Adam Rodriguez, Riley Keough, Cody Horn, and Kevin Nash (professional wrestler/actor), and marks the writing debut of Reid Carolin.

Magic Mike will be released in the US on 29th June, before coming to the UK two weeks later on 13th July. If you’re a fan of Soderbergh’s, you’ll want to make sure you see it on the big screen, because this could well be one of your last chances to if he doesn’t return after Behind the Candelabra. As usual with the poster below, you can click to enlarge.
