Oscar-winning director David Frankel (Marley & Me, The Devil Wears Prada) returns behind the camera for Hope Springs, previously titled Great Hope Springs, which has a stellar leading cast in the form of Tommy Lee Jones, Meryl Streep, and Steve Carell.

The first image from the film surfaced earlier this month, and now three new images (along with a hi-res version of the first) have gone online, featuring all three of the leading cast (and a suggestive bunch of bananas).

“Many years of marriage have left Maeve (Streep) wanting to spice things up and reconnect with her husband.  When she hears of a famed relationship guru (Carell) in the town of Great Hope Springs, she must persuade her skeptical husband (Jones) to get on a plane for an intense week of marriage and sex therapy.  Getting there was hard enough…now shedding their bedroom hang ups, learning some new moves and rediscovering their youthful spark is when the real adventure begins.”

Vanessa Taylor makes her feature debut, having worked on some great shows like Game of Thrones and Alias, and Elisabeth Shue and Jean Smart will be filling out the supporting cast.

Carell has been going from strength to strength in recent years, and I think we can expect the usual great comedy from him as ‘a famed relationship guru’. With Seeking a Friend for the End of the World also due out this summer, and The Incredible Burt Wonderstone and Despicable Me 2 both due out next year, we can happily look forward to plenty more from Carell in the months and years to come. (If you didn’t catch him in Crazy, Stupid, Love. last year, I’d definitely recommend seeking it out.)

Hope Springs was originally set for a release in January of next year here in the UK, but with its US release getting moved up the schedule to 10th August, we might well be getting it sooner than initially planned too. As usual with these new images, you can click to enlarge.

And with its US release only a few months away, I’d imagine that we can probably look forward to the first trailer in the coming weeks too.
