With possibly the longest title of the year, Lorene Scafaria’s Seeking a Friend for the End of the World is due out in the US this summer, and the few things we’ve seen from the film so far look so promising.

The first trailer we got back in February gave a brilliant impression, and we now have a host of new images to share (including one of writer-director Scafaria on set) courtesy of Focus Features, who are distributing the film across the Atlantic.

“Set in a too-near future, a man searches for a meaningful connection as humanity’s last days are at hand. Can he find his greatest love at the worst possible time? As the respective journeys of Dodge and Penny converge, the two spark to each other and their outlooks – if not the world’s – brighten.”

Keira Knightley and Steve Carell star opposite each other in the leads, and I’m convinced that the pairing is going to be an excellent choice. They’ve also got a fantastic cast supporting them, including Adam Brody, Melanie Lynskey, Patton Oswalt, William Peterson, Gillian Jacobs, and many more, and Scafaria is making her directorial debut from her own script.

Seeking a Friend for the End of the World is set to be released in the States on 22nd June, and though we’re yet to have a release date scheduled here in the UK, I remain optimistic that it’s just a matter of time. This is something I’ve been looking forward to for a while now, and I have a feeling it’s going to be perfect. As usual with these great new images, you can click to enlarge.

Since graduating, I spend as much time as possible watching films/TV shows, reading books, and listening to music. So getting to write about what I love is nothing short of awesome. Biggest film-related hope for 2014/ever: Guy Ritchie announcing the RocknRolla sequel is finally moving forward.
