After getting a brilliant set of six new set photos just this morning from Joss Whedon’s The Avengers, the latest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we now have a fantastic new featurette that takes us behind the scenes, interviewing Whedon, Kevin Feige (Marvel Studios’ President of Production), Robert Downey, Jr. (Iron Man), and Chris Hemsworth (Thor).

Quite rightly, Whedon describes the studio’s development of the film as unprecedented, with the first film in this recent slate of Marvel blockbusters – Iron Man – paving the way for all the rest that have come since, leading up to what will almost certainly be one of the biggest films of the year, The Avengers.

Whedon is directing from his own script (the first to do so in these recent instalments), and we can of course look forward to seeing all of our favourite superheroes and characters returning to the big screen, uniting for an epic blockbuster, including Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr., with Paul Bettany returning as JARVIS), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans), the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo, taking over from Edward Norton), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg), Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), and Loki (Tom Hiddleston).

Side-note: As you’re no doubt already aware, the film will be released in the UK as ‘Avengers Assemble’ rather than ‘The Avengers’, so watch out for the former name in your local cinema.

The Avengers will be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on 26th April here in the UK, before heading to the US a week later to be released on 4th May (a.k.a. Star Wars Day). This new featurette, sponsored by Norton, does a great job of introducing newcomers to the films that precede The Avengers, whilst giving long-time fans (myself included) an excellent insight into the films through Whedon, Feige, and Mr. Iron Man, himself.

In case you’re not yet convinced of how immense this is going to be, you can catch all the rest of our coverage for the film right here, with everything really kicking off when the incredible first trailer hit back in October last year, with the most recent trailer landing at the end of last month.

Since graduating, I spend as much time as possible watching films/TV shows, reading books, and listening to music. So getting to write about what I love is nothing short of awesome. Biggest film-related hope for 2014/ever: Guy Ritchie announcing the RocknRolla sequel is finally moving forward.
