Last year at Sundance, there were two* brilliantly-received young US actresses coming out of the festival that instantly became ones-to-watch: Elizabeth Olsen and Brit Marling.

Olsen went to the festival with Martha Marcy May Marlene (which was released here in the UK earlier this year) and the upcoming real-time horror film, Silent House (due out on 4th May).

Marling went to the festival with two films, herself, and not only did she star in both of them, she also co-wrote the two as well: Another Earth (which was released here late last year), and the upcoming Sound Of My Voice, co-written and directed by Zal Batmanglij, who makes his feature debut.

We now have a new trailer and brilliant poster to share with you for Marling’s upcoming film, Sound Of My Voice, courtesy of Apple – making those first few paragraphs quite possibly the longest preamble to this main point.

“In SOUND OF MY VOICE, Peter (Christopher Denham) and Lorna (Nicole Vicius), a couple and documentary filmmaking team, infiltrate a mysterious group led by an enigmatic young woman named Maggie (Brit Marling). Intent on exposing her as a charlatan and freeing the followers from her grip, Peter and Lorna start to question their objective and each other as they unravel the secrets of Maggie’s underworld.”

The film was brilliantly received at last year’s film festival, and was picked up by Fox Searchlight for release both in the US and the UK, and I can’t wait for its release. Marling was terrific in Another Earth, and I’m looking forward to seeing her on the big screen again.

Marling and director/co-writer Batmanglij have re-teamed for their next film too, The East, and with its cast also including Ellen Page, Toby Kebbell, Alexander Skarsgård, and Patricia Clarkson, it’s clearly another film to watch out for.

Sound Of My Voice will be released in the US on 27th April, and though no release has been set for the UK yet, it should just be a matter of time, and hopefully it should see its debut here not long after that. More as we get it. For now, enjoy the new trailer and poster. If you’d like to watch the former in HD, then you can do so over at Apple here. And as the poster says, you can whet your appetite and watch the first 12 minutes of the film over on its official website, which you can get to by clicking here.

*N.B. It is of course also worth noting the UK’s own Felicity Jones and her brilliant performance in Like Crazy at last year’s Sundance, which earned her the Breakout Performance Award at the festival.
