Over the past few months, Vin Diesel has been treating us to plenty of excellent images from his and writer-director David Twohy’s return to the Riddick franchise. This week brought our first look at a few of the mercenaries that we can look forward to hunting Diesel in the upcoming third film, Riddick.

To add to that, we now have another great shot of Diesel as the eponymous Riddick, as well as a brilliant first look at Katee Sackhoff as the mercenary, Dahl. And as usual, it was Diesel himself who’s given these two new images, courtesy of his own Facebook page.

“The latest chapter of the groundbreaking saga that began with 2000?s hit sci-fi film Pitch Black and 2004?s The Chronicles of Riddick reunites writer/director David Twohy (A Perfect Getaway, The Fugitive) and star Vin Diesel (the Fast and Furious franchise, xXx). Diesel reprises his role as the antihero Riddick, a dangerous, escaped convict wanted by every bounty hunter in the known galaxy.

The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he’s encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty.

The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won’t leave the planet without Riddick’s head as their trophy.”

If you haven’t seen them already, I highly recommend watching the first two – 2000’s Pitch Black and 2004’s The Chronicles of Riddick – of what’s about to become an immense trilogy.

Along with Diesel and Sackhoff, Riddick will star Karl Urban in his return from The Chronicles of Riddick, and a host of other new faces beside Sackhoff, including Jordi Mollà, Matt Nable, Bokeem Woodbine, Nolan Gerard Funk, singer-turning-actress Keri Hilson, and WWE’s Dave Bautista.

And as always, Diesel added a little to description with each of the images. First, for the one of himself as Riddick:

“These Furyan eyes have seen so much, and yet so much remains unanswered…”

And second, for the first look at Sackhoff as Dahl:

“Not all Mercs are spineless… in fact some are downright sexy…

GRRRR…

P.s. Katee who plays “Dahl” wrapped picture this morning at 5:45 am, after a long night of rain, action and wires… the talent she brought to the new Chronicles of Riddick… added magic to the film and the process.

/salute”

She looks pretty menacing. I’m guessing we’re in for some fun seeing her hold her own against Diesel.

When he put out two images of himself and Twohy on the set last weekend, he added that production was nearing completion, and if Sackhoff has officially finished her part of the filming today, we must be one step closer to everything getting wrapped up.

I literally cannot wait for this to arrive on the big screen. It’s going to be awesome. As usual, you can click these new images to make them grow. And for the rest of our coverage of the film so far, just click here. Enjoy.
