Premiering this month at SXSW, writer-director Brian Savelson looks like he could make a fantastic feature debut with In Our Nature, assembling a terrific cast headed up by Jena Malone (Donnie Darko), John Slattery (TV’s Mad Men), Zach Gilford (TV’s Friday Night Lights), and Gabrielle Union (the upcoming Good Deeds and Think Like A Man).

With four showings on the 10th, 11th, 12th, and 15th March at the SXSW film festival, if you’re lucky enough to be there at the end of this week, this should definitely be on your list of films to try and see.

The first trailer and clip have now surfaced, via Collider and The Playlist respectively, and give a wonderful first impression of what looks like a very impressive feature debut from Savelson.

“A portrait of two couples at a crossroads. What was supposed to be a romantic getaway  for two young lovers, turns into an uncomfortable confrontation when the young man’s estranged father shows up … with his own girlfriend. As their collisions mount, the weekend transforms into a major turning point for each of them.”

With a bit of luck, it will be every bit as good as it looks and get snapped up for distribution after its premiere this Saturday. Seeing Jena Malone and John Slattery in anything will always be a good thing in my books, and I’m already very much looking forward to seeing them together in this.

(N.B. The quality of the first clip itself – which you can click over to watch on The Playlist – isn’t brilliant, but the trailer below is just perfect, both in quality and content.)
