With its release just around the corner next week, things are looking great for the action-comedy 21 Jump Street, with everything we’ve seen so far pointing in the right direction.

Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill look excellent in the leads, and should bounce off each other well with a good mix of brawn and comedy, and Phil Lord and Chris Miller are set to make a great live-action feature debut having first brought us Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.

To add to all we’ve seen already, we now have a new five-minute red-band trailer for the film, thoroughly unsuitable for work, so if you’re not already sold or if you’re hearing about the film for the first time, this should do the trick.

“In the action-comedy 21 Jump Street, Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) are more than ready to leave their adolescent problems behind. Joining the police force and the secret Jump Street unit, they use their youthful appearances to go undercover in a local high school. As they trade in their guns and badges for backpacks, Schmidt and Jenko risk their lives to investigate a violent and dangerous drug ring. But they find that high school is nothing like they left it just a few years earlier and neither expects that they will have to confront the terror and anxiety of being a teenager again and all the issues they thought they had left behind.”

Along with Tatum and the Oscar-nominated Hill in the leads (the latter being very much deservedly recognised at the Oscars last month), the film also stars Ice Cube, Brie Larson, Dave Franco, Ellie Kemper, Rob Riggle, and a cameo from Mr. Johnny Depp himself, star of the original 1980s TV series.

The script comes from Michael Bacall (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World), with Hill also taking a story credit, so I think we can be assured that we’re in for a lot of fun with this.

21 Jump Street will be out in the UK and the US next Friday, on 16th March, so if you’re looking for a solid laugh at the cinema over the next couple of weeks, this is probably your port of call. It should be great, and here’s the new extended trailer spot to show you why. (Again, it’s red-band, so if you’re currently at work, then be sure to come back later to watch it then.)
