That Jack Kerouac has his name on the movie poster of Walter Salles’ adaptation of On the Road is testament to the power of the novel and its place in the cultural consciousness.

The cast is what will draw those unfamiliar with the source material, with Garrett Hedlund and Kristen Stewart being joined by Sam Riley, Amy Adams with Kirsten Dunst and Viggo Mortensen along for the ride.

There has only been one other adaptation of the novel and that was for TV back in the early 60s and the story of how the success of the novel affected the 35 year old writer is a fascinating one and there’s another adaptation of one of his works in production, namely Big Sur, which was written while Kerouac was reeling from the fame On the Road gave him.

The film’s Facebook page gave these up today and I’m assuming there’ll be more debuting on that page so if you’re jacked into Facebook then you know what you need to do.

Here’s the poster and some images from the film. A few we’ve seen before however these are higher res so I thought I’d include them here. Go crazy.
