Standing as the complete antithesis of the likes of the Academy Awards in the annual award season, the Golden Raspberry Awards, also known as the Razzies, have announced the list of nominations for their 32nd ceremony, decreeing the worst in film in 2011.
I don’t especially love the sentiment of the Razzies myself, and think it’s pretty mean to single out films in this way, but I’m sure that none of the nominees pay much, if any, attention to them, given that the nominees are often films that have done pretty successfully commercially, if not critically.
This year, Adam Sandler has a record-breaking 11 nominations, topping Eddie Murphy’s 5 nominations with Norbit a few years back. And for the first time in the thirty-two years of Razzie history, the five nominees in the Worst Picture, Worst Director, Worst Screenplay, and Worst Screen Ensemble are all the same.
