Sacha Baron Cohen’s been in the news a few times in the past few days, having first announced his intentions to attend tomorrow night’s 84th Academy Awards in character as General Aladeen from his upcoming movie, The Dictator.
The Academy responded by officially banning him from doing so, which was followed yesterday by two brilliant video responses from Aladeen demanding that the Academy give him his tickets (whilst simultaneously applauding their denial of his right to free speech).
Now we have more great news as the story develops, with the Academy giving in to Aladeen’s demands and granting him his two tickets, and Aladeen has released an official victory statement and a gun-toting picture with proof of his tickets in-hand.
“VICTORY IS OURS! Today the Mighty Nation of Wadiya triumphed over the Zionist snakes of Hollywood. Evil and all those who made Satan their protector were vanquished and driven into the Pacific Sea. What I am trying to say here is that the Academy have surrendered and sent over two tickets and a parking pass! TODAY OSCAR, TOMORROW OBAMA!”
And Paramount, the studio behind The Dictator, have also been celebrating his success through their UK Twitter:
“The great leader Admiral General Aladeen has once again got what he wants!”

The Dictator sees Baron Cohen reuniting with his Brüno and Borat director, Larry Charles, and will be released in the US on 11th May before coming to the UK a week later on 18th May. It’s going to be awesome. And we can all look forward to some dictatorial entertainment tomorrow night to promote the upcoming film.
