The Pirates! in an Adventure with Scientists

After being fortunate enough to visit the set of The Pirates! in an Adventures with Scientsts at Aardman Animation Studios earlier in the year, I’m not sure i’ve ever been so excited to see a movie actually be released. Watching those master craftsmen work to complete perfection was just mind-blowing with the attention to detail staggering. The movie has had quite a few trailers and each one has sucked me in more than the last. Aardman have not yet us down yet in all the features movies and shorts that they’ve created so I dont expect them to start now! Roll on 2012!

Battleship

I know this is a silly choice but I can’t get rid of the mainstream in me! The movie is reportedly costing Universal £400m to make making it one of the most expensive movies of all time and for that reason, I am putting it into my most anticipated of 2012. It has the hallmarks of being another Waterworld and being a complete flop but I have decided that I am going to go into the cinema with high but cautious hopes that this movie will actually be good and go from there! Time will tell!!

About Adam Lowes

Mild-mannered civilian by day, passionate cinephile and dedicated blogger at night, my obsession began with seeing the image of Luke staring wistfully at the two stars of Tatooine, and 30-plus years later, that love have never wavered.

‘Act of Valor’ looks like US Marine Corps propaganda in its purest form. Probably most excited by John Hillcoat’s ‘Wettest Country’, if only for the reunion of Gary Oldman and Tom Hardy.

Obviously not big Tolkien geeks around here, eh?…

The Hobbit first, no question.  Then Prometheus, and The Dark Knight Rises (although not as much as I was for TDK).  The Avengers and Spider-Man just look “meh”.

Are these people stupid? Have we forgotten what cinema is?? no one mentioned DJANGO UNCHAINED

  • Kenji Lloyd

Gonna have to call you on that, sir.

    a) that’s not very nice,and b) I definitely mentioned Django Unchained!

Tarantino’s going to be better than Santa next year come Christmas Day 2012.

You’re completely right about The Hobbit, in my head that’s just a given! (Dave Szt)

    OK, what’s cinema then?

I wrote my bit before I saw the trailer for The Hobbit. It’s certainly very pretty, and I’m really keen to find out how people respond to 48 FPS cinema, but still not completely sold on the film itself.
