For Leonardo DiCaprio, it seems, Inception is finally paying dividends. Following his starring role in Christopher Nolan’s seminal 2010 summer blockbuster-with-a-brain, DiCaprio suddenly disappeared from cinemas, having started filming Clint Eastwood’s J. Edgar, and soon signing onto the likes of The Great Gatsby and Django Unchained.

According to Deadline, however, DiCaprio’s 2012 just got even busier, with news breaking that Warner Bros. is putting together a star vehicle for the actor, to be based on the Don Winslow bestselling novel, Satori.

The film itself will star DiCaprio as Nicholai Hel, a man raised in Japan by an esteemed martial arts expert. Killing his mentor out of honour, Hel is imprisoned and tortured for three years, before finally being freed by the CIA on the proviso that he assists in a political assassination. Hel’s new life – complete with newly devoted girlfriend – is not be as safe as it appears, however, and Hel is soon on the run as he finds himself betrayed on all fronts.

Winslow himself is also hot property at the moment, with another of his novels – Savagesrecently completing production over at Universal. Directed by Oliver Stone, and boasting the likes of Blake Lively, Aaron Johnson and John Travolta, Savages was co-written by Winslow himself, a role he will be filling once again for Satori.

Should all go to plan, Warner Bros. are eager for a franchise comparable to Universal’s Bourne series.
