The 1962 Nathan Juran version of Jack the Giant Killer gave me nightmares when I was a kid. A specific scene involving the unmasking of a witch by placing her in front of a mirror stuck with me and I’m hoping that Bryan Singer will be kinder to sensitive children when his re-telling of the story arrives in cinemas in 2012.

Nicholas Hoult, whose rising star has already shone brightly in Tom Ford’s A Single Man, is cast in the lead alongside Stanley Tucci, Bill Nighy, Ewan McGregor and Eddie Mardsen and the last two on the list were recently spotted on the set of the film.

The Daily Mail posted the pics which show Marsan and McGregor trampling around the English countryside and all we can really gleam from this is design of the costumes and that McGregor’s character appears to be a shoulderbag from Next. Fancy.

Here are the pics, I’m looking forward to a trailer please Mr Singer.
