13 Assassins blew through London last year for the film festival and is heading back into cinemas for its theatrical run on the 6th of May and for those looking forward to seeing what happens when Takashi Miike meets feudal Japan there’s a new trailer, clip and some nice pictures for you.

Miike’s film has a not-so-merry band of wayward samuraiĀ  hired to take out a bad lord and as you’ll see from the collected media below it’s a typically visceral affair, though not as Variety had it – Slashtastic.

Twitch and Collider share the spoils, Craig has our review of the film here and if you’re a synopsis away from checking the film out you’re in luck,

The year is 1844. A young lord rapes and kills with impunity by virtue of his political connections. Though the era of the samurai is fading, an honest government official covertly enlists thirteen swordsmen to assassinate this sadistic lord before he can seize more power. With the clock ticking, the assassins lay a deadly trap for the lord and his army of bodyguards, culminating in one of the bloodiest, muddiest swordfights ever put to film.
