One of my biggest regrets from SXSW 2011 was not seeing Rainn Wilson’s new movie, Super. The movie clashed with that of the Aint It Cool News Secret screening where the rumour was that either Captain America, Thor or Super 8 would be screened. Despite Guillermo del Toro, being there (which was indeed rather cool), the movie was somewhat of a disappointment turning out to be Dragonslayer from 1981. All well and good but I’d missed Super for this!
Anyway, UGO have released four new posters from the movie which is directed by James Gunn and also stars Ellen Page, Liv Tyler, Kevin Bacon, Nathan Fillion, Michael Rooker and Linda Cardellini.
Synopsis: In the outlandish dark comedy SUPER, James Gunn has created what is perhaps the definitive take on self-reflexive superheroes. When sad-sack loser Frank (Rainn Wilson) sees his ex-addict wife (Liv Tyler) willingly snatched by a seductive drug dealer (Kevin Bacon), he finds himself bereft and wholly unable to cope. But, inspired shortly after by fictional man-made superheroes of lore, he decides to fight back under the guise of a DIY crimefighter, the Crimson Bolt. With a hand-made suit, a wrench, and a crazed sidekick named Boltie (Ellen Page), the Crimson Bolt beats his way through the mean streets of crime in hopes of saving his wife.
All reviews of the movie and things I heard were positive and it’s one I can’t wait to see.
