Say what you like about Mamma Mia!, it was a joyous slice of oh-no-they-didn’t entertainment which united a dizzying star-powered ensemble to pay homage to one of the planet’s most successful music groups.

Everything – yes, even Hollywood cheese – is only good in moderation, however, and it is with palpable relief that Digital Spy report that there will be no sequel to the 2008 smash-hit.

Amanda Seyfried, who starred in Mamma Mia! alongside Meryl Streep, Dominic Cooper, Colin Firth and Pierce Brosnan, told Marie Clare that there would be no room to further the story, despite the actress’ initial openness to reprising her role as Sophie.

“[Would it happen?] F**k no! That’s never gonna happen. Like, what would they do? What would they write about? How would they get all the actors back?”

Next up in Catherine Hardwicke‘s Red Riding Hood, Seyfried has certainly made quite the name for herself since Kalokairi.
