“I’ve fancied her since I was 10!” These were words of Simon Pegg referring to his co star Sigourney Weaver, who has had more than her fair share of alien encounters, when we talked to him last night at the Leicester square premiere of Paul.

Held at the Empire Cinema, the purple carpeted event greeted Simon, Nick Frost, Paul director Greg Mottola, Jason Bateman, Sigourney Weaver and other stars from the flick who ushered in the World premiere event.

Paul is the story about two British ‘geeky-as-they come’ comic convention nerds (Gawd bless ‘em!) who come across an alien named Paul whilst they are on a tour of the US mid-west. Paul, who is evading capture by the Government, is voiced by Seth Rogen who does a great job as the wide eyed extra terrestrial. You can read our full review of the movie here.

The premiere atmosphere was pleasant but thin, as Leicester Square is having some major refurbishment done that reduced the Feng Shui vibe that has become the standard for these kinds of events. However the fans were out in force and welcomed the actors as they made their way down the strip. The personalities signed autographs, posed for pics and answered every fan boy and media question they could before Sigourney was whisked away to guest star on The One Show.

Talking of fan boys, Simon, Nick and Jason (almost sounds like a boy band) answered some questions on what it’s like being fans turned icons, who would win in a Frost v Pegg fight and how Jason Bateman is still in tune with Teen Wolf, even if it is only which channel to turn too!

Paul is released nationwide on February 14th 2011
