I spoke with versatile character actor William Fichtner recently about his role in the upcoming Drive Angry 3D, a raucous redneck road movie that stars Nicolas Cage as a man who escapes from hell to rescue his grand-daughter from the clutches of a hillbilly Satanic cult (in other words, a film for the entire family – if your family’s name is Manson!).  Fichtner will be familiar to many, as he moves easily between drama (Blackhawk Down, The Dark Knight) and comedy (Blades of Glory, Date Night), and from features to television (Prison Break, Entourage).

In Drive Angry 3D Fichtner plays The Accountant, a sardonic emissary from hell who is hot on the trail of Cage’s Milton. He clearly had a lot of fun with the part, and we talked about how the role was conceived, the difference between acting in standard 2D and 3D features, and our mutual love of muscle cars.

I've worked in entertainment product development and sales & marketing in the U.S., UK and my native Canada for over 20 years, and have been a part of many changes during that time (I've overseen home entertainment releases on VHS, LaserDisc, DVD and Blu-ray). I've also written and commentated about film and music for many outlets over the years. The first film I saw in the cinema was Mary Poppins, some time in the mid-60s: I was hooked. My love of the moving image remains as strong as ever.
