When it comes to making a film we, as reporters of this fantastic industry, always discuss casting news, plots, images and more, but it is rare that the art of production design is brought up much.

While it’s understandable, production design is a fascinating part of filmmaking because its what really makes the film come to life.

Paramount has provided incontention.com with a brief look at the production design behind the Coen Bros. latest film, True Grit, and how it turned a suburb out in Texas into a bustling post civil war town.

One of the people behind the production design was Jess Gonchor, the man continually featured throughout the video, and he gives some indepth explanations as to the logic and process behind the town’s transformation.
