If you’ve not seen Seth Gordon’s wonderful documentary about the rivalry of Donkey Kong maestros Steve Weibe and Billy Mitchell then you really must check out The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters as soon as possible.
It’s a great film regardless of your interest in video games of any era, and this new project from Anthony Caulfield and Nicola Caulfield looks set to plunder the same rose tinted depths to bring us a history of video games, from Apple to the beloved ZX Spectrum and from, as the title suggests, from the humble origins of the bedroom coder to billion dollar industry we now enjoy.

This documentary movie is about the remarkable and true story of how a small number of individuals from around the world, whose creativity and vision pioneered in shaping the billion dollar video games industry which today, dominates the modern entertainment landscape.
The trailer below certainly has a lot of footage from the early days of the video game explosion, and I’m hoping the Caulfields manage to construct a solid narrative through the thirty odd years in which video games have become a permanent feature in our homes.
