Two stories announcing buyouts in a row but they’re both pretty big! Back in January, we posted news that Warner Bros. was interested in buying Leavesden Studios which has been the home of all things Harry Potter for the past 10+ years. Today, Warner Bros. have announced that Warner Bros. have applied for permission to buy and then refurbish the studios which it currently leases from MEPC. This is great news for the UK and should create around 300 new jobs.

This news doesn’t really expand on what we told you back in January except that formal proceedings are now taking place and that Warner Bros. have put in their bid to purchase the site.

“This proposal is central to our long-term plans to invest in the local production community, to create local and industry employment opportunities, and to continue the legacy of exceptional British filmmaking at Leavesden and across the U.K.,” said a Warner Bros. rep.

Leavesden Studios is probably most famous for Harry Potter and The Dark Knight. This concept art comes from Empire and shows what Warner Bros. would like to do with the entrance to the site should their bid be successful.
