Universal Pictures and Working Title Films have confirmed that principle photography has begun on Johnny English Reborn, with filming already having taken place at the Studio’s paddock tank and on the Pinewood lot.

Expected to take 13 weeks to film, this second instalment of the comic spy-thriller will see Rowan Atkinson return for more hi-jinx – his character having spent the years since his first adventure honing his unorthodox skills.

With Natalie Imbruglia not expected to return, Reborn will instead co-star Gillian Anderson (The X-Files) as the agencies director, Rosamund Pike (, An Education) as a behavioural psychologist and Dominic West (The Wire) as Special Agent Simon Ambrose.

The Working Title produced sequel will be directed by Oliver Parker (St Trinian’s) from a Hamish McColl (Mr Bean’s Holiday) and William Davies (How to Train Your Dragon) penned script. Atkinson, meanwhile, will executive produce alongside Debra Hayward and Liza Chasin.

So, readers, are you sufficiently special-agent deprived for another dose of English? I must admit, I do remember laughing once or twice at the original – though I was only 15 at the time.
