Cinematical (via The Playlist) have revealed the first clip from Brighton Rock, Rowan Joffe’s adaptation of Graham Greene’s celebrated novel.

Brighton Rock is Joffe’s directorial debut, but was previously responsible for writing such films as 28 Weeks Later and The American.

The film stars Sam Riley and Andrea Riseborough, both up-and-coming thespians, alongside big names such as Helen Mirren and John Hurt.

Based on Graham Greene’s 1938 novel, Brighton Rock follows the odd relationship between a young thug (Riley) on the rise in the British underground and a tea room waitress (Riseborough) who witnesses a crime he has committed.

Brighton Rock is set to premiere during the 35th Toronto International Film Festival, where it will hopefully secure a distribution deal.
