Following their success with Invictus Clint Eastwood has enlisted Matt Damon to star in his new film Hereafter, and there’s a shiny new trailer out today.
While the Damon/Eastwood combo will excite and interest many people it’s the Peter Morgan factor I’m interested in. Having seen the third in his Blair trilogy, The Special Relationship, and another of his Michael Sheen films, The Damned United, this week I’m very keen to see what Morgan can make of the crowded supernatural thriller genre.
The trailer looks fine and suitably odd, with an earnest Matt Damon looking out of windows (see the image above) and Eastwood blowing up Liverpool Street tube station(and bizarrely renaming it to Charing Cross).
Here’s the synopsis,
Hereafter tells the story of three people who are haunted by mortality in different ways. Matt Damon stars as George, a blue–collar American who has a special connection to the afterlife. On the other side of the world, Marie (Cécile de France), a French journalist, has a near–death experience that shakes her reality.
And when Marcus (Frankie/George McLaren), a London schoolboy, loses the person closest to him, he desperately needs answers. Each on a path in search of the truth, their lives will intersect, forever changed by what they believe might—or must—exist in the hereafter.
