Liam Neeson is in advanced talks to star in Joe Carnahan’s survival drama The Grey.

Neeson will replace Bradley Cooper, who was originally tipped to star when the project was first announced at the Berlin Film Festival earlier this year.

Carnahan, who directed Neeson in The A-Team, wrote the script for The Grey with Ian Jeffers. The story centers on a man (Neeson) and his oil drilling team who find themselves struggling to survive in the wild, after their plane crashes down in Alaska. The men come under attack by large, vicious wolves who see the humans as intruders who must be killed.

Inferno Entertainment is financing The Grey, with Carnahan, Scott Free, Bill Johnson and Jules Daly producing.

Neeson will next be seen in Paul Haggis’ thriller The Next Three Days.

THR reported this one.
