Collider have posted the first promo poster for The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn.

The Aventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn is the first in a proposed trilogy of films based on the much-loved comic-books created by acclaimed Belgian artist, Georges ‘Herge’ Remi.

The first instalment has been in development for a number of years, but due to financing issues – including the fact Universal famously dropped out of co-financing a month before principal photography started – production was halted. However, Sony eventually came to the rescue by agreeing to co-produce with Paramount.

Filming officially began in January 2009, using motion-capture technology, and wrapped after only 32 days, in March 2009. The project is currently in post-production.

The film was directed by Steven Spielberg, from a script by Steven Moffat, Joe Cornish and Edgar Wright. It stars Jamie Bell, Andy Serkis, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Daniel Craig, Toby Jones, Tony Curran, Mackenzie Crook and Gad Elmaleh.

Synopsis: The film focuses on Tintin’s (Bell) first encounter with Captain Haddock (Serkis) and the discovery of a clue to the treasure of his ancestor Sir Francis Haddock. They set out to find it with protection from a prison escapee who tried to get the treasure, as well as Detectives Thompson and Thomson (Pegg and Frost).

For anyone who has ever read Herge’s masterpiece comic-book series, the idea of a film directed by the one-and-only Steven Spielberg is enough in itself to make you go a little weak at the knees.
