Daniel Craig Saddles Up to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

Fresh from his kicking off his spurs after battling extraterrestrial invaders in Jon Favreau’s Cowboys & Aliens, Bond-in-limbo Daniel Craig will step before David Fincher’s camera as his takes on the role of Mikael Blomkvist in the English language remake of Stieg Larsson’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

While MGM’s financial saga puts the next Bond film in perpetual uncertainty Craig has boarded a train with a great deal of momentum, as the Swedish language version of the first novel directed by Niels Arden Oplev made great waves on its release last year and the two sequels, which make up the Millennium trilogy, already made in their original language, are also potentially in Craig’s future should Fincher’s film do well.

Michael Nyqvist played the journalist in the original trilogy and with Craig cast in Sony’s new version they will be surely now focusing on finding someone with the same impact as Noomi Rapace in the female lead role.

Deadline scooped this one.

I am happy with this choice. I'm most concerned about the female lead. I really hope they don't screw it up.
